Arriving at the ship – the spectacular sight replicates the original Golden Hind that circumnavigated the globe between 1577 and 1580 captained by Sir Francis Drake
What age range would you recommend this play date for?
4-7 year olds
What was fun about the ship?
The kids can go under the decks of the ship and see how it was to be a ship passenger in the Tudor times – the animated and enthusiastic actors on board made the learning of the history fun and kept the children engaged.
What was learnt?
The history of the ship from how diseases were treated and a comical stance about them from the wonderful actor as the Barber Surgeon as well as how the ship became what it is now
What did I say to the kids?
Oh yes – that’s why there is a deer head in front of the shop (when the little one spotted it when I repeated that the ship was named Hind after a deer in honour of Drake’s patron Sir Christopher Hatton)
Do you recommend as a play date?
Yes for the kids that are big fans of the characters, this is one for them
